Use this PDF to help you answer questions #1-7: "Misplaced Drama"
Use this PDF to help you answer questions #8-10: "The Junior Representative"
Remember the following tips:
1. Read the questions and answer choices FIRST.
2. Read the entire passage--more than once, if necessary. The "skim and scan" strategy does not usually work well for literary texts (stories, poems, etc.) because evidence of how characters and themes develop, for example, will be shown throughout the text. If you skip parts or don't read closely, you could miss details that make the difference between 2 answer choices later.
3. Look for signal words in the question AND answer choices: best, most, except, NOT, etc.
4. Read ALL answer choices for a question before selecting one. (B) might sound great, but (D) might be better.
and please...for goodness's sake...
5. GO BACK TO THE TEXT to check or confirm details. Please do NOT rely on your memory. 😐 If the test creators didn't want or expect you to use the text to help you answer the questions, then it would not be visible when it's time to answer the questions.
