Building Construction

In Building Construction, classroom and lab times usually overlap. Each first year student will be provided with a hard hat and safety glasses. Second year BC students need to bring hard hats they were assigned last year.

Students need to be prepared by having the following supplies:

Classroom

1 subject notebook
Pencil
Text Book will be provided
Bring District assigned Chromebook fully charged
Covid Mask

Lab

Pencil
Hammer
25’ or 30’ tape measure
Speed Square
Nail Apron
Combination Lock for Locker
Leather Work Boots / Steel toe is optional
Covid Mask

Grades

Majors (Written and Practical Tests)…………………………………………….. 60%
Minors (Employability/Safety, Homework, and Quiz)……………….……40%
A=90-100, B=80-89, C=70-79, D=60-69, Floor Grade 51

Class/Lab/Jobsite Rules

Bring pencils, notebook, textbook, PPE and tools everyday.
Bring Chromebook fully charged.
Boots must be worn in the shop at all times.
Be on time and have a seat in classroom when you arrive at HCC.
Loose articles of clothing or jewelry are not allowed.
Safety glasses and hard hats will be used in the lab at all times.
Always use appropriate language and act professional.
Cell phones, pagers, radios etc. are not allowed.
Abide by the school rules in the HCTC handbook.
