Characterization -

Characterization refers to the techniques writers use to develop characters. These include describing a character’s physical appearance; revealing a character’s nature through the character’s own speech, thoughts, feelings, or actions—or through those of other characters; and having the narrator make direct comments about a character’s nature. As you read, consider what you learn about each character based on the information they share with others, as well as how the narrator describes them.
