Classroom Procedures
Entering the classroom and beginning class
- You must be sitting in your seat by the time the last bell has stopped ringing
- I take attendance using a seating chart. If you are not in your seat then you are ABSENT
- You must remove your caps or hats, whether male or female.
- All food, drink, or candy must be thrown out immediately.
- Any borrowing of materials should occur BEFORE the bell rings.
- Once in your assigned desk, begin working on that day’s bellwork assignment.
Bathroom
You may not go to the bathroom within 15 minutes of the start or end of class, and at my discretion. If I can hold it for an entire class then you can too if necessary.
Sharpening pencils
You may sharpen your pencil at the beginning of class and with permission. If we are in the middle of a lesson do not interrupt to ask to sharpen your pencil.
Grading and Assignments
Unless you are told otherwise by me, if you are absent the day that something is due, it will be expected the day that you return to class. Electronic or Canvas assignments are due regardless of whether or not you are in class. If you are absent the day of a test, you will take that test the next full day that you return to class. If you are absent the day that something is assigned (excused absences included), it is your responsibility to get any missing assignments. If you know that you will be absent (such as with a sport), let me know so that I can let you know what you will be missing that day.
Grading and Assignments
There are two types of assignments, Formative and Summative:
Formative consists of homework packets and bell work and is 20% of your total grade.
- ~50 bellwork at 5pts each = 5% of the total grade
- 5 packets at 150pts each = 15% of the total grade (3% each)
Summative grades are tests, and quizzes,
- 10 Quizzes at 10pts each = 20% of the total grade (2% each)
- 6 Tests at 50pts each = 60% of the total grade (10% each)
Bellwork
Bellwork is to be done everyday on Canvas. They are 5 vocab matching assignments, you have 2 attempts and 1 week to do it. After the week it will be locked and you can’t make it up. Worth 5 points each they make up 5% of your total grade for a semester
Homework Packets
Homework Packets will be given out at the beginning of every new unit and is due on the day of the test for that unit.
- For each day late I will remove 10 points,
- IF I FIND ANY EVIDENCE OF CHEATING YOU WILL GET A 0!
- If you choose not to color the coloring portion of the packets you will get -2 points from each part you didn’t color.
- You must read ALL of the instructions, If you don’t read the instructions for each part you will miss directions (like drawing arrows), if you do this it will be -5 points for each part missed.
There is an electronic version of the packet on canvas that will be made available the last week of the unit. You will input the written answers from your packet onto canvas for faster grading. You still have to turn in your physical packet for the coloring and labeling portions! I expect you to complete the entire hard copy of the packet in cause of any electronic mix up. As such I will still grade it if you do not submit the electronic version but you will have 10 points removed from your grade for not following instructions.
Quizzes and Tests
There will be a quiz or test every Friday. Retakes for Test are always the Thursday or Friday after the Test is given. I do not give retakes for quizzes EVER. The lowest quiz grade will be dropped at the end of the year.
