Rationale:
The purpose of this course is to study human relationships and human social behavior from a group perspective by examining the connection between culture and social structure, analyzing the role of the individual in society, studying the problem of social inequality, analyzing the role of social institutions, and explaining how the social world is experiencing change.

GRADING WEIGHTS:
Major Grades= 60% of quarter grade
Minor Grades= 40% of quarter grade
Final Grade:
Q1/Q3= 40%
Q2/Q4=40%
Final Exam=20%
Students who have a SEMESTER AVERAGE (F1) of 90 or higher and have 3 absences or less will be eligible to exempt the final exam. If you have a 90+ but have more than 3 absences, you will have to write an appeal to the principal and gain approval for exemption.
Major grades will consist of major tests, projects, and study guides.
Minor grades will consist of quizzes, classwork, and homework
Make-Up Policy: The student is expected to make arrangements with the teacher to make up any and all missed work. I can meet with you before school for 5th block Monday-Thursday, and after school by appointment. If you fail to make arrangements on your own, I will assign 5th block time for you and your parents/guardians will be called. If you fail to stay for 5th block, you will be referred to the administration.
Grading Scale: A=90-100, B=80-89, C=70-79, D=60-69, Below 60=F
