Course Syllabus
Course Description:
This course is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills leading to the development of a business plan for small business ownership. An important part of the course will be the incorporation of traditional and non-traditional marketing strategies, technology, staffing, and financial consideration.
Expectations:
- Arrive on time each day. Go to the attendance office for a tardy pass if late.
- Don’t eat or drink in classroom. Bottled water is allowed. Please make sure trash or papers are thrown away or recycled. Let’s keep our school looking beautiful.
- Use the break between classes to visit the restroom or water fountain. Hall passes will be given for emergencies only.
- Use the internet for academic purposes only.
- Keep cell phones powered off and put up. Phones may be allowed for music during independent work, but this privilege may be taken away. The cell phone policy is in your Student Handbook.
- At the end of each class, remain seated until dismissed by the teacher.
- Return chairs under computer counter when leaving each day.
Consequences:
1st Offence- Warning
2nd Offence- Teacher/student meeting right after class or during class if needed
3rd Offence- Lunch detention
4th Offence- Lunch detention and a phone call home
5th Offence- Referral to administrator

Assessments and Grading: Student progress is assessed during each grading period of the course. Methods of assessment include activities, projects, research, presentation and tests. Students will be formally assessed during each of the curriculum units.
Major Assessments = 60% |

Attendance:Students are encouraged to attend class every day and to be on time. Credit may be denied for more than 6 absences in a one credit course or for more than 3 absences in a half credit course. Students with excessive tardiness will be disciplined according to the policy in the student handbook.
Late or Missing Work:Students are expected to make up missing assignments as soon as possible. Please schedule a convenient time with the teacher as soon as possible. Assignments which are not made up by the assigned deadline will be given a grade of zero. Late work may be penalized up to 20% of the possible points.
Reassessment Guidelines:Some reassessment opportunities may be offered by the teacher. Reassessment will not be offered for major projects or semester/final exams.
Academic Integrity:Academic dishonesty detracts from the value of a South Carolina diploma. WHS does not tolerate lying, cheating, or stealing in any form. Consequences of academic dishonesty are listed in the Student Handbook.
