Academic Integrity Policy

Violation of the Academic Integrity Policy includes such actions as plagiarism, copying other’s work, and cheating on tests or quizzes.  The following are examples of violations of the policy:

  • Using illegal aids on tests (cheat sheets, looking on another’s paper) or showing your paper to another student
  • Including information from internet resources, such as text and images, without properly citing sources
  • Paraphrasing or using direct quotations without properly citing sources
  • Copying another student’s work, allowing someone to copy from you, or using copies of another student’s data files
  • Using online translators
  • Creating or falsifying information

Students are responsible for conducting themselves in such a way that there will be no reason to question that their integrity adheres to this policy.

Consequences for violating the Academic Integrity Policy include the following:

  • Parents will be notified of the offense
  • A zero may be recorded for the assignment
  • The student will be counseled by the teacher and/or counselor
  • Repeated offenses may result in ISS, OSS or additional disciplinary actions

Course Description

Students who have enrolled in Industrial Technology II have completed Industrial Technology I with a desire to undertake further learning activities relating to industrial processes and procedures.  Manufacturing, construction, and welding instructional units may be provided.  The course is fully hands on oriented.  In this class students learn what they need to know to deal with customers, be a productive citizen, solve real problems, basic wood and steal working techniques, and desirable work ethics.

Technology Expectations

Students will be expected to use AutoDesk Inventor 2018 to design all shop projects. Students will be expected to use Microsoft Word and PowerPoint to complete other assignments throughout the year.

Instructional Strategies

The course material will be implemented in many ways.  The instructor will lecture and demonstrate various lessons in the classroom using a computer, digital projector, chalk board, handouts, and software as needed.  Hands on learning will take place in the shop through demonstrations, individual and group projects.  Students will have time provided for individual and group practice and application of instructor demonstrated skills.

Assessment Strategies

Each Nine Week grade will be determined as follows:

  • Daily Grades 40%
  • Major Grades 60%
    • 6 PER QUARTER

      • Quality Craftsmanship
  • Most assignments will be completed in class.  On occasion you might need additional time on the computer or in the shop.  At some point you will find you need to take advantage of extra help. 
  • Reassessment is available per district policy.  Most all assignments may be made up for full credit.  All make up work must be completed during that particular grading period.

Attendance Policy

Student attendance laws require the following days present to receive credit, provided the student receives a passing grade in the course:

In a 45-day course, a student must attend 42 days.

In a 90-day course, a student must attend 84 days.

Grading Policy

According to SDOC Policy, the grading scale will be as follows:

A         90-100

B         80-89

C         70-79

D         60-69

F          0-59

  • Be On Time
  • Be Prepared
  • Treat Others With Respect
  • Electronic Devices are permitted at appropriate
    • They should always be silent.

 

Computer Lab Rules

  • No Food or Drink etc.
  • Do not access the Internet without instructor’s permission
  • Do not download anything from Internet
  • Do not play games
  • Do not Instant Message
  • Always do a Print Preview before printing a document.

 

* Repetitive disregard of computer rules will result in permanent loss of computer privileges.

Consequences:

            1st offense: 15-minute lunch detention

            2nd offense: 1 hour after school detention

            3rd offense: Administrative referral
