Early Childhood Education 1 is designed to provide students with hands-on opportunities to actively explore and observe the world of young children and prepare them for educational and administrative careers in the field. This course provides an in-depth study of career paths, developmentally appropriate practices, curriculum development, safe and healthy learning environments, and collaborative relationships.

 

There are no prerequisites required for this course.

SC Standard B1: Analyze education and training requirements and opportunities for career paths related to education, early childhood and other careers.


SC Standard C1: Analyze each of the domains of early childhood development.

 

SC Standard C2: Describe the different classifications of special needs.

 

SC Standard C3: Evaluate developmentally appropriate guidelines for behaviors.

 

SC Standard D1: Evaluate Developmentally appropriate lessons for content area.

 

SC Standard E1: Critique learning environments and activities to ensure safe, sanitary, and healthy practices.

 

SC Standard E2: Demonstrate skills required for emergencies and basic first aid.

 

SC Standard E3: Identify symptoms of common childhood illnesses, diseases, and disorders.

 

SC Standard E4: Identify signs of child abuse and neglect.

 

SC Standard F1:  Demonstrate interpersonal skills that promote positive and productive relationships.

 

SC Standard F2: Demonstrate effective verbal, nonverbal and written communication skills.
