OCG - Chorus 4

Long-range learning and developmental goals were designed in conjunction with objectives and goals addressed in the National Standards for Music Education and the South Carolina Academic Standards for the Visual and Performing Arts. The goals are designed to enhance a progressive course of study as students continue in the music program.

National Standards for Music Education

1. Singing, alone and with others, a varied repertoire of music.
2. Performing on instruments, alone and with others, a varied repertoire of music.
3. Improvising melodies, variations, and accompaniments
4. Composing and arranging music within specific guidelines
5. Reading and notating music
6. Listening to, analyzing, and describing music
7. Evaluating music and music performances.
8. Understanding relationships between music, the other arts, and disciplines outside the arts
9. Understanding music in relation to history and culture

South Carolina Academic Standards for Visual and Performing Arts

1. The student will sing and perform on instruments a variety of music,alone and with others.
2. The student will improvise, compose, and arrange music within specified guidelines.
3. The student willread and notate music.
4. The student will listen to, describe, analyze, and evaluate music and music performances.
5. The student will examine and perform music from a variety of historical periods and cultures.
6. The student will make connections between music and other arts disciplines, other content areas, and the world.
