Automotive Technology 3 will teach students the NATEF Maintenance and Light Repair (MLR) areas of Anti-lock Brakes (advanced), Heating and Air Conditioning, Manual Drive Train and Axles, as well as Automatic Transmissions/Transaxles. Students will learn the operation of the taught automotive systems as well as how to test and repair the MLR aspects of the systems.

Diagnose electronic brake control system braking concerns caused by vehicle modifications (tire size, curb height, final drive ratio, etc.).

Bleed the electronic brake control system hydraulic circuits.

V-G-8 (MAST)

Test, diagnose, and service electronic brake control system speed sensors (digital and analog), toothed ring (tone wheel), and circuits using a graphing multimeter (GMM)/digital storage oscilloscope (DSO) (includes output signal, resistance, shorts to voltage/ground, and frequency data).

Identify the source of A/C system odors.

  • Safety Glasses (1st pair is provided, additional glasses are $3 each)

  • Closed-toed shoes/boots (slip resistance bottoms are recommended)
  • Safety-compliant clothing (not baggy and no clothing with holes)
  • Todaysclass (online curriculum provided by the SC Dept of Ed)

  • Students at this level are strongly encouraged to buy and build a set of tools. Students are offered 50% discounts on many brands of tools.
