(Note: Earth Science will count as a science credit towards a high school diploma but does not satisfy CHE college admission requirements.

This non-lab science consists of geology, oceanography, meteorology, and astronomy.  Topics convey an appreciation for the basic processes of science and an acquaintance with current problems and ideas.  Students gain a better understanding of the planet on which they live.

 

There are no prerequisites required for this course.
There are no fees associated with this course.

*Standard H.E.1 should be applied to all lessons taught in Earth Science.  In addition to Standard H.E.1, three other Earth Science standards are required to be taught in the 1 semester class.  Standards H.E.2 & H.E.4 may be taught in place of any two of the three Earth Science standards.

 

*Standard H.E.2: The student will demonstrate an understanding of the structure, properties, and history of the observable universe.

 

Standard H.E.3: The student will demonstrate an understanding of the internal and external dynamics of Earth’s geosphere.

 

*Standard H.E.4: The student will demonstrate an understanding of the dynamic relationship between Earth’s conditions over geologic time and the diversity of organisms.

 

Standard H.E.5: The student will demonstrate an understanding of the dynamics of Earth’s atmosphere.

 

Standard H.E.6: The student will demonstrate an understanding of Earth’s freshwater and ocean systems.
