Students address skills emphasizing the SC Foreign Language Standards at the Developing and Expanding levels. Students read and discuss selections from classical and contemporary Spanish literature and history. Written assignments include essays on these topics as well as contemporary issues in Spanish speaking countries. Emphasis is on oral presentations and real life situations. An advanced grammar unit prepares students for college placement tests. Students may be given the opportunity to take the Spanish section of the SAT II to further prepare them for college placement tests. Students may be required to commit to an independent summer program that requires reading and responding to works from a list.
