(Percussion 1)

Course Number: 458300CW

Percussion class is a specialized course, designed for the advancing percussionist.  By default, percussion students are also considered members of the Symphonic/Concert Band and will rehearse and perform with these ensembles outside of the school day.  Students enroll for the entire year, with the understanding that the fall semester emphasizes marching percussion and the spring semester emphasizes concert percussion.  Activities vary, depending on the needs and characteristics of the high school band program.  Attendance at after-school rehearsals and performances is required.

Students must complete middle school band or demonstrate an equivalent skill set.  Students must also complete an audition with the band director prior to registering.

  • Standards:  Long-range learning and developmental goals were designed in conjunction with objectives and goals addressed in the National Standards for Music Education and the South Carolina Academic Standards for the Visual and Performing Arts.  The goals are designed to enhance a progressive course of study as students continue in the music program.
